A few words from Tania

Lapin et Tania

"After moving from my native France to Scotland in 1991, I trained as a nursery nurse, qualified in "Childcare & Education" (SVQ Level 3) and worked in nurseries for many years...

Realising children were learning new French words through my games and role plays, I set up to create my own puppet theatre company. I wanted to introduce very young children to my language in the most amusing and natural way possible : through authentic French speaking puppets.

So I made Lapin and his friends, designed and made a set, my little French garden, that would fit in my suitcase. In 2007, I was awarded funding from Puppet Animation Scotland to train with professional puppeteers and create my 1st show "Lapin Wants Breakfast". With the collaboration of Robbygraphics, Le Petit Monde was set up in 2008. It has been touring regularly since with performances in Puppet Animation and Aberdeen's Arts Across Learning festivals as well as Brighton and Fringe festivals and other venues such as the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh.

Tania - Lecoq School (Paris)

Since 2008, I’ve been commissioned nearly every year to create puppet shows for ACF International | Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger. I have toured the French London based primary schools with the shows, which I’m proud to say, have helped very young children to become more aware of hunger issues in the world.

In 2015, with the support of Creative Scotland, I teamed up with some of the best artists in Scottish Children Theatre and we created The Wonderful World Of Lapin.

Although my work is of real educational value, Le Petit Monde’s main objective is to entertain children and give them an early and positive experience of the French language and culture through the arts. With this in mind, I welcome special requests and possible collaborations to other projects. Voilà !"
