About Us

Tania Czajka

Le Petit Monde is a bilingual puppet theatre company based in Scotland. It is run by Tania, a French native author and Teaching Artist. Living in Edinburgh since 1991, she qualified as an Early Years Practitioner and gained a rich insight in young children’s development through many years working in nurseries.

Artistic Director of Le Petit Monde puppet theatre since 2008 and author, Tania has developed her own bilingual English / French writing featured in her shows and picture book.

A performer and maker, she happily combines and shares her skills and passion for languages as a Teaching Artist.

Olivier Czajka

Also a French native but living in France, Olivier is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator at Robbygraphics since 2011. As well as designing the visual identity of Le Petit Monde, he is the co-creator of all the characters featured in the puppet shows and in the picture book Lapin is Hungry which he illustrated. His passion for traditional drawing and the birth of his daughter in 2015 led him to go back to pens and brushes to produce more illustration-oriented artworks.

What we do

  • Bilingual and accessible puppet shows in theatres, community venues, schools and nurseries.
  • Facilitation of workshops or projects for all ages up to 11 years (P7 / Y6) and their families or teachers.
  • Special picture book events.
  • Teachers Training in Creative Language Learning.

Our vision

Le Petit Monde help young children throughout the UK to acquire knowledge of French language and culture through puppetry, interaction with stories and hands-on activities.

We prime ourselves in producing work that is accessible to non-French speakers from all backgrounds and abilities and in fostering everyone’s creativity.

Our aim is that every child enjoys our ‘Little World’ and goes home with a bit of Frenchness in their hearts.
